British Designer Simon Hasan has appointed himself the unenviable task of resuscitating British craft techniques. With the demise of a number of British craft institutions in recent months some might say a revival is ill-timed. Hasan on the other hand is adamant that his products will reach a larger audience than their predecessors.
This great adjustable reading lamp is by Israeli group DAG Design Lab. The juxtaposition of natural and unashamedly artificial materials would create a striking graphic presence on anyone’s bedroom wall. In addition, the use of a simple clamping mechanism to secure the lamp at different angles further enhances the appeal.
Comme Des Garcons produces the most original fragrances period. I have worn my way through two bottles of the unmistakable 2, and one of their woody collaborations with esteemed magazine Monocle entitled Hinoki and relished every moment. Their new Standard fragrance has been produced in collaboration with finnish furniture company Artek and epitomizes their pared back design aesthetic. Through the simplicity of the packaging to the understated matt grey bottle design this partnership seems to sit well alongside their previous, already popular releases.

Poise by Kristy Whyte reminds me of a family of green birds perched on a branch waiting to eat. These beautifully proportioned mugs are made from slip-cast ceramic and finished in a high gloss luster. I particularly like the way in which the handle delicately touches the table for support.
While I attempt to play catch up I thought I would take the time to include this lovely coat hanger entitled Saucer by Eric Degenhardt for Schonbuch. I love the functionability of the product and imagine it would also cast some nice shadows against the wall when not in use.
The Position lamp by design collective Rooms is a beautifully crafted re-working of the ubiquitous desk lamp. I love the subtle change of proportions and the delicacy it gains through being made from wood.
